News Flash! Ina Garten, aka the Barefoot Contessa, will unveil her latest cookbook on October 28. The title should catch the eye of anyone who’s spent too much time in the kitchen trying to entertain guests or put together a quick, family meal.
Make It Ahead: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, is the ninth publication of this esteemed writer and can be had in hardback from Amazon for $21; a Kindle version is $15.99.
Her collection of cook-ahead meals includes Leek and Ham Empanadas (freeze and cook as needed); Braised Red Cabbage with Pancetta (a dish that actually improves when made ahead); and a gluten-free Chocolate Cake.
In keeping with the season, there are tips for a Make-Ahead Thanksgiving meal. Hmm…I’m not sure even the Barefoot Contessa can alleviate the stress over how a bird should be brined, cooked and carved; the contents of the dressing; or the consistency of the gravy and mashed potatoes.
Even so, the book sounds like a good Christmas gift for a foodie friend.
