Lisa and the girls made this panda-themed cake for Tom’s recent birthday.
Cakes are synonymous with celebrations—birthdays, weddings, Christmas (fruit cake), Mardi Gras (King Cake).
Truth be know, I’m more of a pie person than a cake enthusiast. If given a choice, I select a fruity pie to a heavily iced cake. Even so, I recognize the artistry that goes into turning out a beautiful, tasty cake worthy of a special occasion.
Icing on the Cake
Cake comes in many forms. There are box cakes, scratch cakes, themed cakes, multi-layered cakes as well as single layered, iced or non-iced, cup cakes, cheesecake, and fruity or boozy cakes.
I checked my photo file for “cakes,” and found I had several hundred! I picked a few baked by family and friends, that were memorable. (Mouse over photos for caption.)
What’s your favorite cake?
These are splendid! And inspirational. Cake today is a wonderful celebration for yesterday’s Inauguration. I myself am not a baker but i’m sending these on to my sister, who is. Perhaps she’ll mail me one?? I also have to say, it tests my will power to be viewing these before I eat breakfast!
Forgot to pick my favorite. I do lean toward the Sicilian Bundt cake or a cheesecake, but being a horse lover, it has to be Coco’s Unicorn Cake. Mmmmmm.
