Charlie Gitto’s Chesterfield menu
Did you know that 1/3 of those who dine out will choose an ethnic restaurant? Most often it’s Chinese, Mexican or Italian—those are the favorites of most Americans. In St. Louis there’s no shortage to choose among. One of the stars in the Italian realm is Charlie Gitto’s with its three locations: On the Hill; From the Hill (Chesterfield); and Hollywood Casino.

Meet Charlie Gitto
Few restaurants have such a splendid location, spacious parklot, well-designed space, attentive wait staff, mouthwatering menu, and well-served dishes of ample size. Indeed, Charlie Gitto’s checks all the boxes and makes food service look easy. And, yes, there’s a Charlie Gitto, a friendly, on-the-job guy, who I recently came upon at the Chesterfield location.

The Art of Menuism
Now there are menus you ponder, but nothing really grabs you. Other menus make your eyes dart from line to line, your heart beat faster, and you begin to salivate like Homer Simpson. The menu breaks forth in a vast gastronomique chorus, each line sounding your name! Charlie Gitto’s menu can do that to you.
To avoid those extremes, I pre-check a restaurant’s website. I make my selections ahead to lessen any table anxiety or pressure. Besides, having “pre-ordered” (in my mind) allows me more time to concentrate on taking photos—though the lure of a daily special can often shred my resolve.

The Take Away
Cyndy and her husband lived in Chesterfield for years so they know the hotspots and are especially fond of Charlie Gitto’s restaurant. They highly recommended the Chopped Salad. I ordered that along with a delightful appetizer: Eggplant Napoleon. That should’ve been a modest amount of food. But the portions were so large, I took half home for dinner! Our server, Rick, boxed it nicely and threw in a some iced tea for the road. Did we come away happy diners? You betcha (forgive the Palinism).
