Aisle-jamming crowds turned out on Monday for the debut of Lucky’s Market located in the shopping center at McKnight and Manchester. The pre-opening festivities gave a taste of things to come with samples of meats, salads, pizza (really good!), fresh squeezed juice, and soups all made in house.
Walking through the colorful produce section, I felt like I was in an art gallery. Or a street market in Europe. The 26,000 square-foot grocery is spacious, inviting and filled with unique food displays. Items had not just been placed in bins or onto shelves; they were attractively arranged to maximize eye appeal.
But Lucky’s is more than eye candy. The Boulder-based chain strives to bring customers healthy foods and yet stay competitively priced, even on their many natural and organic items.

Luckily, I had a chance to meet the company’s founder and CEO Bo Sharon. If his face looks familiar, you may remember him from the hit television show Happy Days, where he starred as Ron Howard’s son. Bo appeared in over 90 television commercials, 50 television shows and 9 movies. But today he’s bringing glitz, glamour and drama to food shopping with Lucky’s, a chain of new, affordably priced, organic grocery stores. (About 90% of the store is made up of natural, organic foods.)
The grand opening in McKnight Shopping Center is Wednesday, August 19. You might want to put this one on your calendar. Take the family. Grocery shopping has never been more novel or fun.

Lucky’s Market: 9530 Manchester Road in McKnight Shopping Center. Open: 7a-11p.
