I’m always inspired when I browse The Container Store. Recently, as I strolled along their many aisles of storage bins, it occurred to me that I needed to tidy up my 3-foot-wide coat closet. During the recent cold spell, I’d spent too much time trying to find assorted caps, scarves and gloves. I needed a better, more accessible way to get to those easy-to-lose items.
The solution came to me in a household epiphany amid the bright lights in The Container Store: Closet Door Storage! I was elated! If I installed some wooden pegs at the top of my door to hang scarves and a couple of wire bins below for caps and gloves, I’d have easy, uncluttered access.

Ta Dah! Tidy. Accessible. Visible. I even uncovered a few scarves I didn’t know I had.
More Storage Possibilities
As it turned out, all the mounting hardware came with the units and my condo maintenance man had them installed in a jiffy. If you’re having similar storage complications, this might be just what you need. The units could work on other doors as well, but check the depth of the bins to make sure they don’t bump anything in the closet when the door is closed. On the next icy/snowy day, I may tackle my kitchen cabinets. Who knows what mysteries lurk on the shelves of those long-ignored upper cabinets.
