Sausage Gravy
Ingredients
- 1 lb. bulk breakfast sausage
- 1 Tbs. bacon drippings
- 2 Tbs. flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp sugar
- Dash of red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Place sausage in large cast iron skillet. Cook until brown and breaks up in little pieces. If you have bacon drippings, add it to heighten flavor.
- Spread sausage evenly in pan and sprinkle with flour. Let flour brown and soak up the fat, for a few minutes. Slowly add milk and whisk with fork to blend and break up lumps. Bring to boil and add a black pepper and sugar (or not). Season with a dash of red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- Serve over hot biscuits or toast.
