Friends Fur-ever

The highlight of my week was having my dear friends, Cyndy and Lucy, join me from out of town. I had an agenda of “to-do’s” and “to-enjoys” for the afternoon. At the top of the list was to visit my granddogs.

Both these gals are pet enthusiasts, so they were up for hanging out at the doggie park with my eldest, Bella, (Russ and Deb’s 125-lb. Newfoundland).

Putting the Wow in Bow Wow

But first, we stopped at Tom and Lisa’s. They have recently replaced Butter, their Pug of many years. It took two dogs to fill the gap: Mochi, a petite Shih tzu, who scrambles across the floor like a wind up toy. And the newest arrival: a snow white Samoyed pup, who resembles a small, stuffed polar bear.

It’s fun to see them frolic. Little Mochi is not at all intimidated by his much larger companion.

Hanging Out at Bar-K

Our next doggie meetup was with Russ and Bella at Bar-K, the trendy canine spa on McRee just off S. Kingshighway. The place abounds with Fido friendliness.

At this pampered pup palisade, pet owners get fine treatment along with their pooch(es). Bar-K offers several food and drink courts (nside and out), games, pet grooming, feed, pet therapy, supplies, and more. When we visited, they were in the process of constructing stalls for a canine “carwash,” aka doggie shower.

“I’ll take a K-9 Cola on the rocks. On second thought, make that a double—it’s my birthday.”

The Party Poocher

The spacious poop-free turf allows pets to frolic freely with their four-footed friends. On weekends, the place comes alive with hundreds of dogs and owners. But when we were there, it was a chilly, mid-week day, so things were more subdued.
