Nuts to You!
I discovered Spicy Pecans some years ago, when my friend, Tracy, brought a jar to the farm. She had made them and they were heavenly.
The crunchy, salty, and sweet pecans are perfect to nosh on, sprinkle over a salad, or even freeze for a special occasion. Sadly, they are difficult to get in the freezer, because they disappear so quickly.

A baking pan of nuttiness.

It takes less than ten minutes to get pecans into the oven.
Simple and Savory
I’ve noticed that nearly every member of the fooderati has their version of spiced nuts: Emerald, Martha, Ina, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, and Williams-Sonoma. You can find recipes with more ingredients, but I like the simplicity of this recipe. Besides, I usually have all the ingredients on hand. Bonus: the nuts are gluten-free.

This salad of Mixed Greens, Butternut Squash, Pecans, and Dried Figs is packed with color and flavor. I sometimes sub dried cranberries for the figs and replace the goat cheese with feta (made from sheep’s milk).
Munch a Merry Christmas
If you’re looking for a tidbit for a family or party salad, spicy nuts will add punch and crunch to any bowl of fresh greens. If you need a holiday treat, or a small, but memorable gift, this is your go-to recipe. Dress up your gift by putting the toasted nuts into a small Mason jar and tie a square of colorful print material over the lid. Viola!
