Cyndy and I popped into POPtions for some popcorn recently. We’d just finished lunch at Schneithorst’s and our car was parked outside one of the Village stores. At first we weren’t sure what kind of store it was. POPtions? Maybe a funky dress shop. Hmmm. . . . We wandered in and the smell, of course, was the give away.
According to the friendly guy behind the counter, POPtions has been there several years, dishing up gourmet popcorn for connoisseurs. The traditional stuff with just salt and butter can also be had—but why?

Cyndy ponders the array of choices: sweet, nutty, choclatey, cheesy and spicy.

We each got a small sack of Over the Top. According to our server, it’s a favorite at the one-stop-pop-shop. The blend features caramel corn double-topped with dark and white chocolate.
Sampling Is Required
One of the many signs in the store indicates that Sampling Is Required! We took advantage of that and tested several varieties. There was Vermont Aged White Cheddar, Caramel Cheddar, Chicago-style, Chipotle Cheddar, Oreo Crush, Gooey Butter Pop, Caramelt Crunch, Saigon Cinnamon Sugar, Chocolate Praline Pecan and munch more. No, we didn’t try all of those, but you get the idea that there’s a goodly selection. We settled on Over the Top, a caramel variety that boasts the inclusion of Bissinger’s dark and white chocolate.

Look at these names: Gooey Butter Pop, Salt & Vinegar, Buffalo Bleu, Peppermint Poppy, Gingerbread Ice, Holiday CeleBerryation, and Chocolate Pecan Praline.
The folks at POPtions pride themselves on using only non-GMO corn kernels, coconut oil for popping, Bissinger’s chocolate, and gluten free ingredients (except in Oreo Crush).
