Having indulged in a pizza feast the night before, my family took off for the “beach” the next morning. I’m sure most of St. Louis is unaware that suburban Rolla has a beach—Fugitive Beach—located in an abandoned rock quarry on Hwy. 72 not far from our farm.
Pizza and Fun Stuff

Fugitive Beach, Rolla.

With Tom waiting in the water, Addie takes a leap from the platform.

Harper and Robin share a beach treat.
Meanwhile, back at the farm. . .

Our friend, Robert, is fishing in the pond near the house.

This little whopper may not be trophy size, but he fit my frying pan just right and was quite tasty.

Fisherman’s delight.

Robert and Lucy also showed up with some coral bells and several Colorado Blue Spruce saplings.

Pond reflections
As I enjoyed the fun time with family and friends at the farm, I couldn’t help but think of the thousands, who are in shelters this week, facing tragic losses and an uncertain future. The special gatherings we enjoy with loved one are, indeed, precious and far too brief. Whether eating pizza or enjoying a pond, savor the moment.
