The Blue Sky Tower Grill, home of the Blue Sky Martini Club in the University Tower across from Coma Coffee shop.
This is a place that’s hard to miss. Afterall, it’s located in one of the taller buildings in the area—the University Tower. Blue Sky Tower Grill is on the first floor. Even so, it’s off the beaten path with no big signs pointing the way.
Bill and Patti Hildebrand opened the cafe across from the Galleria nearly seven years ago. As the grandson of the famed Kitty Hullings, aka Miss Hullings, owner of the much-revered cafeterias and bakery, Bill inherited some culinary creds. His menu reflects wide choices, just as his grandmother’s did—though I’m not sure what Granny would think of serving good food from metal trays lined with parchment paper. But times change. So sit back and enjoy the ambiance.

The Lots of Veggies Wrap comes with red peppers, red onion, tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, black olives, Parmesan cheese and tomato vinaigrette. Served with tater tots.

Turkey Reuben with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, house sauce on grilled marble rye

Grouper Taco with cabbage, onion, tomato, lime, and creamy, Southwestern sauce in flour tortilla.
Blue Sky Martini Club
Besides the eclectic offerings, there’s the Blue Sky Martini Club with 60 unique varieties, that appeal to boomers or millennials. Those who work their way through 52 martinis (with a maximum of two per visit) get a gift card, a tee shirt, and their name on a plaque over the bar. But by then, you’re probably a regular and, as they say at Cheers, “everybody knows your name.” I’ll not be entering the contest, though had it extended to the veggie wraps, I definitely would’ve signed up.
