Cyndy and I lunch-munching and people-watching on the patio at Saigon Cafe pre-pandemic. (The first day of spring is just 6 Mondays away!! What a treat to have warmer weather to enjoy eating outdoors.)

Look for the red awning.
The Real Deal
Saigon Cafe, (formerly Little Saigon), is a bit of Vietnam snuggled into a red-awninged cafe in the Central West End. They take pride in dishing up Asian cuisine from locally produced ingredients—some that they grow themselves.
Kudos to chef/owner Joan, her son Michael Ly, and kitchen staff for bringing such lively and luscious Vietnamese cuisine to the area.

Bun Bo Xao Cha Gio: stir-fried lemongrass beef with jalapenos and onions served with egg rolls.
The menu includes such delicacies (and favorites of mine) as Pho Ga, a Vietnamese chicken soup, that’s good for what ails you. And Ca Ri Ga, a scrumptious yellow curry of chicken, potatoes, and carrots with jasmine rice.
Dine Inside or Street Side
The décor at this little gemstone is intimate and chic, as befits its location in the Central West End. But street parking can be a bit dicey. Happily, Laclede Parking Garage is nearby, so I’ve never had a problem.
For those who enjoy people watching, the oversized windows and outdoor patio provide a great view onto what’s hip and happening in the CWE.
Over the years, Saigon Cafe has developed a devout group of fans and followers and for good reason: you can always count on fresh ingredients, lively flavors, and relaxed surroundings. No MSG.
