Want to add a little geekiness to your kitchen tools? Well, here are three must-have additions to your counter top. According to designer Chris Dimino the Keyboard Waffle Iron ($60) is “the most significant union of technology, design and waffles in the modern age.” Can’t argue with that. Now you can be a keyboard warrior both at the office and at home. Available in April 2015.

Darth Vader Toaster
The Darth Vader Toaster leaves a galactic impression on bread, pancakes, hamburger buns, English muffins and small children. This bit of plastic memorabilia is available for $49.99 at Sears, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and e-Bay—and for much less at most garage sales.
If you can’t figure out what you’re eating or how much you’re eating, there an intelligent spoon, fork and knife that’s just right for you. The Intelligent Cutlery (or IC3) has a computerized shaft with three interchangeable components: fork, spoon and knife.
The fork measures fat, protein and sugar content of a fork load of food. The spoon? It weighs the food, while the knife takes the food’s temperature. No more digit dipping and licking. From all that info, your computer will produce a statistical report on the nutritional content of your meal. It’s the perfect gift for the dieter who has everything.
If you merely want to improve the quality of your cooking, there’s the Intelligent Spoon invented by researchers at MIT. The sensors in the serving spoon test for proper levels of spices, acids, salt, and sugar and suggest a remedy if any of these are out of balance. The information obtained from the spoon can then be used to advise the cook on what to do next. For example, add more salt to the mixture or continue stirring for 5 more minutes until the batter is thicker.
A great kitchen accessory for the taste impaired, but tech-savvy cook.
