Cyndy and I at the North Pole. . . well, at least, the North Pole in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton.
During the Christmas season each year, Cyndy and I have lunch at The Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton. (Yes, the main restaurant is manifestly called The Restaurant.) It’s fun to see others having similar outings, as was a table of women next to us decked out in Santa hats.

Ham and Brie Sandwich and side of spinach and tomato salad.

I miss the lunch buffet the Ritz used to offer, but the menu is varied enough to suit most any appetite.

Butternut Bisque with crispy duck prosciutto, toasted pumpkin seeds and creme fraiche.

The Turkey Avocado BLT. Having avocado on a BLT makes you feel more virtuous.

I like to get tea at the Ritz, because they’re a bit fussy about it, bringing you a little white tea pot perched on a doily along with a small jar of honey and a lemon wedge.
If you want to do something special for a friend during the holidays either the Ritz Restaurant or The Grill provide a relaxed location. Valet parking and the sunny spaciousness of the dining room make for a feeling of pampered luxury. Be sure to stroll about the lobby and see the Christmas decorations. Or sit a spell with a drink beside one of the lobby fireplaces.
Taking a “Ritz break” will help maintain your serenity during the hustle and bustle of the season.
