Monday I attended a “class reunion” of former (and some current) members of the Senate Democratic caucus. Former Floor Leaders Tom Daschle (SD) and George Mitchell (ME) put together the event held at the Metropolitan Club in Washington.
President Obama dropped by for the lunch that included some senators who served before my time, such as: Gary Hart (CO), Chuck Robb (VA), Bob Kerry (NE), and Bill Bradley (NJ). Several women senators showed up as well. It was good to see Barbara Mikulski (MD), Carol Moseley-Braun (IL), Diane Feinstein (CA), and Blanche Lincoln (AK).

It was such a pretty day that the President decided to walk back to the White House, which closed several streets and tied up traffic on others.
While in DC, I did another thing I’ve been meaning to do for some time. I had my interview to obtain a Global Entry pass, that’s part of the Trusted Traveler Program of the Department of Homeland Security. The application on line is easy enough, but then you have to follow up with an interview in Washington, or one of the other designated locations around the country. I’m glad to get it done; it means one less line to stand in at the airport.
Now that I’ve gone to all that trouble, I need to find someplace to travel. Hmm. . . with winter coming on that would be some place warm.
