GoodFoodSTL’s Best Food Photos, 2015
Here are the food photos I took last year that I liked the most. Admittedly, it was a subjective conclusion. All the pictures were taken on my iPhone and touched up with Picassa.
I have a Canon Rebel, but find it too cumbersome. Working with a Digital SLF camera requires a higher level of skill than I’ve attained. Besides, my iPhone is much easier to use in a restaurant or to tuck in my pocket when I’m at the farm.
I’ve found that lighting is the key to good food photography. I prefer natural light and set up most shots on my dining room table near a wall of sliding glass doors. In the evening, I use a photographer’s tabletop light and some white cardboard to reflect light into the scene. It’s fun to play around with the effects, but it takes time and I eat a lot of cold meals.
