Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe has a vast selection to chose from.
When I was a kid, we used to sing a hymn in church entitled: Brighten the Corner Where You Are. I thought about that song as I walked into Jilly’s Cupcake Bar recently. They most certainly brighten the corner at I-170 and Delmar with their award-winning cupcakes, unique ice cream flavors, and highly appealing brunch/lunch menu.

From their corner location, Jilly’s has good access, parking and view.

Cupcakes fresh from the oven. There’s every flavor from banana cream pie, to Black Forest cheese cake, to German chocolate, to mint oreo, to lemon blueberry gooey butter! And more!
I recently had lunch at Jilly’s (the owner’s name is Jill Segal). I joined Tom, Lisa and my three young granddaughters. The place was packed. Some sat at the tables or window seats eating a sandwich or salad while others picked up orders of fancy cupcakes and left.
I ignored the Chocolate Thunder cupcake, though it was on display just over my shoulder. Instead I had the chicken salad sandwich. Tom and Lisa got a chicken wrap and the girls quickly picked up on the mac and cheese.

Award-Winning Cupcakes in a Feel Good Setting
Jilly’s has picked up a number of awards for their brilliant cupcakes. The Daily Meal included them in their list of the “Best Cupcakes in Every State.” And USA Today named Jilly’s one of the top 10 places to get a gourmet cupcake in the nation.
This is a place to go with family or friends who enjoy a buzz of activity as well as a bit of sweet. I didn’t see anyone reading a book in an isolated corner or even fumbling with an iPhone. People were actively and pleasantly engaged with each other over food. I had the feeling that Mary Poppins might walk through the door followed by a gaggle of geese and the whole place would break into music and dance. No doubt about it, Jilly’s is a feel good place, sorta like a Willy Wonka Cupcake Factory.
In today’s world, it’s good to know there are places designed to give you an emotional lift. If cupcakes won’t do it for you, you can always go next door where they offer a stunning selection of ice cream flavors.
