Bourbon Balls
Great Christmas cookie. Keeps well.
Ingredients
- 2 cups vanilla wafers crumbs
- 1 Tbs. cocoa
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar divided
- 1 cup pecans very finely chopped
- 2 Tbs. white corn syrup
- ¼ cup bourbon
Instructions
- Mix well the vanilla wafer crumbs, cocoa, 1 cup of the powdered sugar, and pecans. Add corn syrup and bourbon; mix well.
- Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in the remaining powdered sugar. Put in a tightly covered tin box or other metal contained for at least 12 hours before serving.
- Cookies keep well for 4 or 5 weeks. Makes 36 to 42 balls)
Hi, Jean! We live in STL also, most of our life. I remember this recipe and used to make it with our youngest daughter. What we found to be amusing, was that we also made Rum Balls, same recipe, just using Rum. We kept tasting the batter to see if it needed more rum, and we kept adding it … we didn’t think it would give us a buz… but yep! it did. Thank God she was over 21 when we did that! LoL! We both learned our lesson…. just make according to the recipe and let them sit… the boozy flavor will surface. I am going to make your Bourbon Balls for Thanksgiving this year since all of our grandkids are all older now. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
