All the prepared ingredients for composing a scrumptious salad.
Most of us think we should be eating more salad. But do we do it? We tend to use the same old veggies (and I do mean old, because our homemade salads often have aging greens and wilted bits and pieces). We get bored with the same ingredients and return to the carbs and sweets.
Enter Salads2Your Door
My son, Tom, brought a few of these home-delivered salads to the farm recently. I was impressed. The greens and veggies from Salads2YourDoor were perfectly fresh and ready for assembly. The dressing (quite good) was in a spill-proof pouch.
Tom explained that you can get 5 individually packaged salads weekly. “The salads are delivered free to your door each Monday.”
“What keeps them fresh,” I asked, “a lot of additives?”
“No, none of that,” he said. “The salads contain no preservative, mayonnaise or sugar. It’s the vacuum sealed packet, that keeps everything crisp and fresh. What’s more, they’re prepared in a kosher kitchen using all kosher ingredients.”

All the makings for a personalized Buddha Bowl.
Meet the Salad-Making Mom and Health Coach
Tom went on to tell me about the woman, who came up with the idea: Chanala Rubenfeld, a certified, integrative, nutritional health coach and mother of six boys. The business started by accident 3 years ago, when she began creating salads for her clients, who—like Chanala— didn’t always have the time, ingredients, or energy to compose a healthy meal.

Super Zippy Salads
I went to her website and saw the many impeccably-crafted salads pictured there. I found out they could be mine every Monday morning for $12.50 each, five salads for $62 a week, free delivery. Calories range from 250-400 per salad and include WW points and nutritional label.
Salads are made in a commercial kitchen, but Chanala told me they were in the process of moving to an incubator kitchen.

Add-ons to the salad plan, include chicken, soups, yogurt parfaits, and smoothies
A Rainbow of Color
There’s not an option as to which salads you receive each week, but you can indicate ingredients you like or dislike. The subscription meal service offers such tantalizers as Southwestern Black Bean Salad with Chipotle Lime Dressing; Kale-Sweet Potato-Avocado Salad; a Falafel Bowl with Lemon Tahini Dressing; Strawberry-Kale Salad with Sunflower Seeds; and Caprese Zoodle Salad.
Soups include a hearty vegetable soup, apple butternut squash soup, creamy asparagus soup, and black bean soup.
So What Are the Favorites?
When I asked Chanala about the salad favorites, she mentioned the Sabich Salad, a middle eastern combination of romaine, roasted eggplant, hummus, hard-boiled egg, pickles, chickpeas and tahini. I’m drooling already!
Another favorite, the Crunchy Millennial Caesar Salad, is a modern spin on the classic with romaine, lettuce, shredded kale, carrots, Parmesan cheese, roasted chickpeas, root veggie chips, sun-dried tomatoes, grape tomatoes, and hemp seeds topped with a vegan Caesar dressing.
Get Out of the Groove
Deliveries are made in the St. Louis area, as well as St. Charles, and some parts of Illinois. A salad subscription automatically renews each month. But you can easily make an online request to cancel temporarily or entirely.
During these times of isolation and stress, a healthy, luscious, ready-to-eat meal has all the goodness of a warm hug.
