There’s not many restaurants in St. Louis that can claim 25 years in business. If you read the food magazines, you know that local eateries come and go all the time. But a few stick it out, serving consistently good food to contented customers.
One such restaurant will celebrate a quarter century in business at the end of the month: House of India on Delmar just off I-170.
Come Join the Celebration
When I talked to Kumar, he was handing out invitations to the birthday celebration scheduled for two evenings. The festivities will take place on Saturday, December 28 from 5p-10p and Sunday, December 29 from 5-9p.
Kumar suggested making a reservation by calling 314-567-6850 or texting 314-422-5604. You can email: email@example.com. Better yet, just stop by and let Kumar know.
Comfort Food from India
I’ve been a regular at HOI for years. The award-winning lunch buffet offers an ample, quick, delicious, and inexpensive lunch. All the dishes are well-seasoned and comforting. I’m fond of their Vegetable Korma, Chicken Curry, Tikka Masala and the specialty dishes that often include eggplant, potatoes, garbanzos, spinach, or lentils. It feels healthy.
The Mango Lassi, (made from fresh mango, milk, and yogurt), is a delightful thirst quencher on a hot summer day.
If you’ve not tried the cuisine of India, but would like to start with the best, this is your chance. The food is not hot, unless you choose to make it that way, but the flavors are addictive.
House of India, 8501 Delmar. Open: Mon-Sun 11:30a-2:30p. Mon-Thu 5p-9:30p; Fri-Sat 5p-10p; Sun 5p-9p.
