Cyndy and I lunch-munching and people-watching on the patio at LIttle Saigon.
Little Saigon is a bit of Vietnam snuggled into a red-awninged cafe in the Central West End. They take pride in dishing up Asian cuisine from locally grown ingredients—some that they grow themselves. The menu includes such delicacies (and favorites of mine) as Com Chien Trai Thom—a pineapple, fried rice dish with shrimp and chicken—and Ca Ri Ga, a scrumptious yellow curry of chicken, potatoes, and carrots with jasmine rice. Cheers to owner Joan Ho and her kitchen staff for achieving delicious dishes without the use of MSG.
Dine Inside or Street Side
The décor at this little gemstone is intimate and chic, as befits its location in the Central West End. But street parking can be a bit dicey. Happily, Laclede Parking Garage is nearby, so I’ve never had a problem. For those who enjoy people watching, the wall-size windows and outdoor patio provide a great view onto what’s hip and happening in the CWE.
Over the years, Little Saigon has developed a devout group of fans and followers and for good reason: you can always count on fresh ingredients, lively flavors and relaxed surroundings.
