The cow didn’t jump over the moon, nor did the little dog laugh, but Mr. Moon and the Sundance Kid gave us a solar display that will long be remembered. My family wound up in four different locations in the Band of Totality and none reported any traffic problems.
I’m home after a day spent with a zebra, a couple of Clydesdales, a huge turtle, a few pigs and ponies and an amazing group of bespectacled-friends at Castlewood Stables in Ballwin. Below are a few photo highlights of the day.

At this point, I couldn’t see a thing, but I had on a sun umbrella hat, my goggles, and was pointing in the right direction.

There was plenty to amuse us at Castlewood Stables as we awaited the solar display, such as this striped horse— actually, a young zebra.

I was in Ballwin where there was a magnificent total eclipse and no cloud cover.

Here comes the sun!

I had read that you could stand with your back to the sun and turn your camera phone on to selfie mode and taking a photo. This is the best I could do. If you missed this Eclipse, don’t worry there’s another headed through Missouri in 2024,

Even the big pet turtle was bespectacled for the occasion.

The animals didn’t get as excited as I thought they might. But they did line up to be fed when it got dark.

It’s hard to resist a colorful roadside market, so my friend, Jane, and I stopped for a few pieces of fresh fruit at this market in Ellisville.

I also bought a bag of fresh, green beans as a momento of my celestial escapade.
