When I think of the word Clementine, it usually brings to mind a hybrid orange, Winston’s Churchill’s wife, or the hard-luck Western ballad by the same name. But no more! What springs to mind now is ice cream! Specifically Clementine’s Naughty and Nice. I’m thrilled that Clementine’s has opened a new location in Clayton’s Demun neighborhood, nearer to where I live than their Lafayette Square shop. What I save in gas, I can use to upgrade to one of their funky new flavor cones.
During the summer heat, it’s good to have another comfort station nearby, dispensing frosty cones of sweet, creamy goodness. Cheers tor Clementine’s for having set up a glitzy version of their flagship ice cream parlor. This time, owner Tamara Keefe opened with an artsy storefront window, a welcoming front patio, and more indoor seating. Happily, the flavors remain the same. “Naughty” still describes the boozy flavors (love that Maple-Bourbon); “nice” designates their other flamboyant offerings.

Ice cream offers both boozy and non-boozy varieties and revolving flavors. Where else can you get Maple-Bourbon or Chocolate Cabernet in a cone!

Clementine’s now has two locations and others are in the planning.
Clementine’s is St. Louis’ only micro-creamery, which means they’re able to trace all their ingredients to a natural source. It is one of only 14 other such creameries in the country. So if you feel guilty enjoying a double scoop, take comfort in knowing that Clementine’s uses only naturals products—no dyes, artificial flavors, fillers, or stabilizers. Eat up!

The cones at Clementine’s maybe frosty, but the smiles are warm.

Clementine’s has the feel of an old-fashion ice cream parlor with it’s bentwood chairs, dainty tables, and charming decor.

My monthly women’s gathering, (we call ourselves Dining Women), bypassed dessert after our restaurant meal and chose to indulge at Clementine’s. Happy choice.

(Left) Cindy and Randy Singer join me for an after lunch treat. This time I tried the featured variety: Peach Perfect. Oooh! Was that ever good!
